Getting your mindset right AND FOCUSING ON THE PEOPLE before starting something new, especially creating content, is essential.
I’ve seen some accounts skyrocket after only a few months, making millions of dollars and more followers pilling in every minute.
I’ve seen other accounts post for years and never breakthrough.
What separates these two stories is how clear the Content Creator was on WHO they are posting for.
I’ll give you an example from my Radio Days.
When I worked on a country music station, I would wear cowboy boots to my in-person appearances.
Why?
Because I knew my target audience and how to connect with them.
This is where and how all good brands begin.
This process goes by many different names in the business world.
The ideal audience, your avatar, your client profile, your who, your lifer, your tribe, etc.
Whatever you call it, this is something that can’t be skipped.
Here are a few tips to help along the way!
Don’t Obsess and Stress
This is indeed the most important step to creating content that resonates with the right people…
But that doesn’t mean you can’t change things along the way.
Updating my ideal audience is something I have consistently done since starting a business.
Your first draft is enough to get you to started and connecting with people, but the more you update and refine the process the better it gets.
Start with what you can and where you are, and be willing to adjust along the way.
Some How The Right People Will Find You
Even the most successful people we have ever coached are still shocked when the RIGHT people come their way.
It’s pretty amazing when you get a lead or an email from someone who is totally the perfect fit for you.
Most people even become close friends with the ones they meet through specific targeting and messaging.
This Isn’t Just For Ads
A common misconception new Creators have when starting this process is that this only matters when you run paid ads.
Not true.
Knowing who you are helping through your content can help you:
Pick the right topics/content
Pick the right branding
Pick the right social platforms to use
Have a morepowerful conversation
Narrow your business focus
Pick the right coach for your goals
Build a website faster
Build a funnel faster
Become an expert in your niche
Network with people in your industry
and so much more!
This Can Help Boost Your Bottom Line
The brands that do the hard work upfront get rewarded for years.
I don’t know any successful content creator or business owner that has skipped this step.
In the noisy world of social media and content creation, knowing who you are there to serve helps you stand out better than any other strategy.
Being intentional with your Target audience will show up in your revenue if you do it correctly.
If it doesn’t, that’s how you know to head back to the drawing board.
It’s Easier To Start With A Work Book
I made the Clarifying Your Ideal Audience Work Book to help Content Creators like you get a head start on this part of the business journey.
It can feel confusing and overwhelming.
I get it.
